Cant put it down, its like a baby PC. Comes with Linux (But you can install windows), 900Mhz cpu, 512mb ram and a poxy 4gb harddisk, but its expandable via memory card.
Anyways its so cute.... ack cant believe ive used that word. Been using it on the road today and its great to just take out and use anywhere, has wifi, so internet browsing on the move, infact it just seems to do everything (Media player to).... all for... £220!!!
Ok its not perfect it has its faults, but damm its so... I want to use that word again.... Next to my works laptop a D620
Next to my Nintendo DS and a normal size mouse (And no its not a crack on the DS screen its the flash)
Infront of my PC, and a normal size keyboard, really shows its size!!
Ok good points.... The price (Come on £200.... stuff a iphone...!!!) By default it comes with lots of standard apps, media player, internet explorer, skype, msn, open office suite... list goes on... It has a built in webcam!!! You can be a die hard windows fan, stick windows on it, and with a bit of tweaking (Back to old days of pc building and configuration) it runs perfectly fine, and can run most if not any normal pc software 4 hours battery life Onboard LAN and wireless 3 USB2 ports, VGA out, Built in Mic, and stereo+mic out jacks!! Build Quality is faultless, feels solid not cheap SD/MMC Expansion Port (And 8GB+ cards are available) Plug a USB harddisk into it for near infinate space.... Excellent Keyboard for its Size Touchpad (And you can connect a USB mouse) Default OS boots in 14 seconds, and supports power standby, so its "always on" basically! You can run Emulators on it.... so SNES... Gameboy....
Bad Points Only 512mb of ram and expanding may void warrenty (But guess what im doing next...) Only 4GB flash drive (Which has a short life span if constantly written to eg by windows swapfile, but in short, if you properely configure it, it will last the life of the unit easily) 800x480 resolution can cause problems from the standard 800x600, however back to twiddling, you can over come this.... Mine had a dead pixel on the screen, but providing its not displaying black you cant see it!
Anyways, ive been a true mobile professional today and had it with me.... everyone wants to play with it.... its like one of those "whoo whats that toys".... Taking it to work on monday for a laugh to see how many people play with it
Anyways, if you want a small pc you can do everything on for school, work or even a bit of play, with the ability to go back to old skool PC'ing were you have to really tweak your pc to get the most of out of... add this to your xmas list.... £200 FFS! Word of warning however, its selling out like crazy everywhere, seems every rich boy wants his toy.... and its original market of a cheap PC for students and kids is being slightly abused
For a laugh im getting windows on it tomorrow.... I wonder if it will play guildwars
Its actually playable, ive seen worse! Wouldnt fancy actually trying to play a game with it mind. Only niggle I can see is the game does not support the 800x480 resolution of the screen so it lops off the top bit (Actually it doesent you can scroll the screen up to see it, but you loose the bottom then!)
Any other challenges.... and no im not trying a certain DX10 demo on it
Oh and its running Windows XP btw, runs fantastic, boots up in about 20 seconds, 4 hours out of battery, got office 2003 on there, all windows updates, few apps I use, all the things I need for work, and still have 1.5GB free on the onboard disk. My 8GB SD card has turned up so ive used that for storage of my documents, also put ZSNES on there and it runs fantasticly!
Anyways its living upto my expectations and more, next task is to get a screwdriver to it and replace that 512mb chip with a 2gb one......
Well, xan, that's just what I'm dreaming about. Being able to bring the computer with me everywhere, without any problems and using wireless internet connection and placing myself in a nice place and play GW ^^

Ya and its only the start now I know what to change (Sningers and insists you look to the left of your posts....)
Ill try to get a picture of me attempting to play guildwars on it, should be amusing, be interesting to see what the fps is like on it! Some of the people on its forums are having fun playing command and conquer and such like on it, say its great for last generation games.
I played around with it and got 500mb free from the windows install files yesterday, now upto 2gb free on the onboard storage, 1.5gb in use, which isent bad considering thats XP, with all its updates, IE7, and everything else that comes with it. Moved Office 2003 onto the SD card (Its a 60x card and runs everything at alarming speed), along with most other apps that I can, including temporary files etc. Still amazed with the speed of it.
Ive been carrying it around at work, and everyone whos seen it (Pretty much everyone) has wanted to play on it, so far around 6 people want one for xmas!
PS3 only sucks as much as you think it does...usually get into this argument with a lad at school as well =)
Currently theres only one main game that I want for the PS3 (Assassin's Creed) and although you can also get it on the 360, i want the PS3 for other games when they are released (Mainly MGS4, DMC4, and FF)
mgs4 is actually supposed to go on the 360 as well. And Squaresoft (i don't call it squareenix) is whoring out ffXIII as they have made 3 different versions for it. Btw assassin's creed is also out for the pc i believe. DMC also has sort of been declining since DMC2 then again none of sequels will be as good as the original.
MGS4 fair enough, FF id rather have 3 well made games rather than Square-Enix try and push everything into one game, assassins creed on PC...well you know what this computers like =P and ive enjoyed all of the DMC games so far
well the 3 ff games are supposed to be well the normal type, an action one in the vein of ffVII dirge of cereburus (which sucked I might add) and a moblie phone version which i think you can imagine probably won't be much of a good game.
Enough of this bickering though and when did you become xan's whipping boy?!
When I came to replace the PS2, the thing that put me off the PS3 was its lack of games, and the sheer cost of them. They seem to be coming down now, but for example Ass Creed (Which btw is a excellent game) was £39 on the 360, and £49 on the PS3.... WHY?!..... im sorry its the same game.... your paying for the sony badge and the bluray technology.
Im a big fan of sony, never got a xbox due to the "microsoft" badge on it, but im afraid to say they have got it right with the 360, even from the start, a budget model and the full blown, ability to upgrade.... as for the games they are well priced in comparison and theres a good range of budget titles even when new, for instance the new Lego Star Wars you can get for £29.
Graphics wise etc, I think the PS3 has more potential, but im sorry the 360 looks awesome on the 42" in hi-def, cant fault it at all, creed really makes you go "wow" at 1080 (Yup got the elite so I get full HDMI)
Anyways im not slating the PS3, im sure it will have its day, but right now, I think its way overpriced (Games more than console now) with not enough games yet, but my biggest gripe is £50 for a new game, who they kiddin! A new game on the PC is only £29!!!!
the price of games on amazon and play are £39 (nearly always buy things online now =) ) but assassins creed is still £2 more on PS3.
But either way, ive got a 40gb PS3 with Assassin's Creed on its way to me.
Oh and if you want a little chuckle look at Eye of Judgement on PS3, might not be a great game but its a nice idea behind hit (made me think of the mini game in FF8 (Triple Triad) mixed with Yu-Gi-Oh =D)
i really liked the idea behind EoJ but i saw a reveiw on tv for it and it seemed too short and having to pay extra for new cards is a bit of a shame, might be a good online thing though (not sure if it has)
